After doing some digging, I determined the audio driver (Creative Sound Blaster or something like that) is nearly 20 years old, pre-dating XP's release by about two months. I managed to find the sample rate that my audio playback device in the host OS was using, but pinpointing the exact sample rate in XP was not so easy, and I didn't have the patience to look outside of the usual Control Panel method. It bothered me because sounds from other applications seem fine. Please message the moderators and we'll pull it back in.Ī few days ago I posted a video demonstrating how distorted the audio from XP's default sounds are in my case.
